Global Learning Experience

GL Courses Taken :

  • LEI 3707 : Inclusive Recreation Services

  • OCE 3014 : Oceanography

  • SOP 4731 : Global Psychology

  • CLP 4314 : Psychology of Health and Illness

From each one of these global learning courses, they have made me see the world from different perspectives and has made me grow as an individual and human being. The following documents will show some of my work that I turned in.

  • Global Learning Medallion Activity Points

This two points global learning medallion event was the first event I decided to attend. In this event, there was a presentation on the history of International Rescue Committee, what human trafficking is, and where and how it still takes place today. The speaker mentioned a story that happened a few years ago where human trafficking was happening in a family home in Miami. It was sad to hear that people would put a young girl through this situation when she was not aware of what was right and what was wrong because she was not from this country.

The speaker also mentioned different organizations that help the victims to move on and help build a future for them. All in all, this event really made me realize that I wanted to do my part. So, I asked if I was able to do an internship with the International Rescue Committee and I was accepted for a summer internship under the immigration section.

Here is the link to the IRC website if you are interested to get involved in anyway.

This one point global learning medallion event was my last event that I chose to go to. I know everyone has their own opinion and point of view on this tough topic. During this event, pros and cons opinions were shared and we saw a small documentary on different individuals who live in certain states where this is allowed. Personally, I believe that it all depends on the situation. I am not against it, however i am not for it. For instance, individuals who are living with terminal illness/diseases, I believe they do have the right to ask for assisted physician suicide. After all, it is their bodies and life.

Now, I am not for it due to the fact that anybody will then ask for this as a way out in life. When in reality, assisted physician suicide may not be the answer or solution for everyone's situation. Just because life might get tough, doesn't mean this will become the answer. I believe there are always various of alternatives before reaching this point.

All in all, assisted physician suicide is a topic that should be discussed. This topic should be taken seriously and with cautious as well.
